JUSTICE NETWORK AND JOHN WALSH PAY TRIBUTE TO THE MEN AND WOMEN IN BLUE DURING NATIONAL POLICE WEEK

Shining a spotlight the fallen as well as those who have gone beyond the call of duty

ATLANTA – May 11, 2017 – For the third year, Justice Network, in conjunction with National Police Week, will be saluting and celebrating the thousands of men and women who are dedicated to protecting their communities.  Throughout the week, Justice will be airing stories, narrated by John Walsh, of heroes who have fallen in the line of duty as as well as those who have gone beyond the call of duty.

On National Peace Officers Memorial Day, Monday, May 15, Justice will run a roll call featuring the names of all 143 fallen officers in 2016.  The roll call will air five times throughout the day at 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm.

Justice is also featuring ten personal stories of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice throughout the week. These include:

“At Justice, honoring the men and women in blue and their canine companions during Police Week is just a small way to say thank you for all the hard and dangerous work they do day in and day out and in some instances giving their lives to keep their communities safe,” said Steve Schiffman, Justice Network CEO. “As a partner with the law enforcement community, we feel a sense of responsibility to showcase all of the positive work that they do all year long as well as be a resource for them.”

In addition to the roll call and stories of the fallen, Justice will feature 12 stories of officers who went above the call of duty to help their community.

“For a broadcast network to take the time to shine a light on all of our fallen heroes across the country is unique and we are extremely grateful,” said Scott Ley, Senior Inspector, US Marshals Service. “We’ve had great success over the last two years with the Justice Network featuring most wanted fugitives on their airwaves giving us a national platform to apprehend fugitives using their viewer’s tips.”

As part of the societal mission to make communities safer, the Justice Network works with the US Marshal's’ office, FBI, local law enforcement and Crime Stoppers to feature local Most Wanted fugitives every hour, 365 days a year.  To date, 89 fugitives who have been featured on the network have been apprehended.
